Qualifications
- Must be at least 18-years-old.
- Have the ability to work independently and lift computers (approximately 30 lbs).
- Must be a Washington State resident.
- We reserve the right to select volunteers based on their ability to learn and support the program.
How to Get Started
To start, you must fill out and submit the application form. Our volunteer coordinator will review your application and let you know if we can accept you as a volunteer. Unfortunately, we don't have the resources to accept all volunteers. You will be notified within 5 business days if you are accepted. Benefits of Volunteering
- Create opportunity for others. As part of your training, you will refurbish second-hand computers for shipment to non-profits, schools and other organizations in developing countries.
- Gain valuable training. Learn about computer components, how to upgrade and fix computers, how to identify parts and how to install hard drives, memory, software and operating systems.
- Get a free desktop or laptop. Complete the 30-hour computer skills program and receive a free refurbished desktop computer set which includes operating system, Microsoft Office Basic 2007, Antivirus, monitor, keyboard and mouse. Volunteer for 60 hours and receive a refurbished laptop with wifi card, operating system and Office Basic 2007.
Computer Center Volunteer Policies
- All volunteers must complete the Volunteer Application prior to starting work.
- You must attend orientation. See details below.
- The Volunteer Coordinator will determine the appropriate program for the volunteer based on their experience.
- Volunteers who violate our codes of conduct will be asked to leave the program. This includes theft.
